John Fawkner College high profile synthetic soccer pitch installation up and running

College Principal, Gus Napoli says ‘both the school and local community have been enriched by the provision of this new complex.  The high use of the facility is evident of its popularity, and the manner in which the playing surface continues to perform is testimony of the quality of the product’
The existing playing fields at John Fawkner College, in Melbourne’s northern suburb of Fawkner, were typical of sports grounds around Melbourne, hard, bumpy and difficult to maintain due to lack of water.  In a joint venture between the Moreland City Council and the College a Synthetic Soccer Pitch, including floodlighting and fencing has been installed. 

The College will use the facilities during the day and the community will have access during the evenings and weekend.  The new facility is a fantastic addition to the local Fawkner community and further supports the Colleges popular Soccer Academy program.  

TigerTurf Soccer Real is a  third generation, soft, 4 ended monofilament polyethylene surface. Soccer Real is a premium value and premium performance surfacing system that is manufactured with one of the most advanced synthetic monofilament yarns in the world. Part infilled with sand and rubber.


The installation was certified to FIFA 2 Star for the period 30th December 2009 to 29th December 2010. The client choose not to retest the facility to 2 Star so subsequently downscaled to a FIFA 1 Star until 29th December 2012.
