TigerTurf transforms turf technology

05/01/2006
This new yarn is so easy to work with and has reduced installation time as a result. -- Jonathan Gallagher, Easigrass
Artificial turf trendsetters TigerTurf have once again proved themselves to be innovators in the marketplace as they bring their revolutionary rugby and football product to the fore...

Robbie Craven, TigerTurf's forward-thinking R&D Director, identified the fundamental weaknesses inherent in conventional fibrillating fibre (fibre that is designed to split), in long pile football applications. He pertinently points out that "for this type of fibre to look natural it is necessary to brush it to enable the individual blades to open up. At Tiger we have always opposed this as it accelerates the wear of the yarn, thereby reducing its life expectancy and changing its performance. Our new TigerTurf ER 65 uses more advanced yarn technology that requires no brushing, will last longer, perform better and looks fantastic."

TigerTurf ER 65, although only recently launched, has already been laid at two locations; Amersham School in Buckinghamshire, and Elche in Alicante, Spain. First reactions are positive. " This new yarn is so easy to work with and has reduced installation time as a result," claims Jonathan Gallagher of renowned installation company Easigrass. He adds that the "the soft fibres hold the rubber granules perfectly and leaves a green top immediately upon conclusion of the infill process.". The Amersham School is celebrating the completion of it's new, progressive pitch with a stylish grand opening scheduled for two weeks time.

TigerTurf ER 65 is currently undergoing tests for the new FIFA 2* standard, and first results are excellent. "By the end of October we should have lab tests completed. Then we will start looking for our first full-size pitch in the UK to be officially tested then accredited to the new FIFA standards." explains TigerTurf MD Bryn Lee. "As a company we have invested heavily in becoming a FIFA licensee, and the TigerTurf ER 65 will be one of our key products in the soccer and rugby market." The top quality football and rugby product is also in line to meet the stringent requirements of IRB Regulation 22.

Already the product is proving to be phenomenally successful and is generating extensive interest amongst sports clubs, governing bodies and consultants across the UK. TigerTurf ER 65 looks set to take the synthetic sports surfacing world by storm in 2006 as increased numbers of football and rugby clubs are seeking out more progressive, higher quality and harder wearing solutions for their pitch requirements.
