The TigerTurf Cup has been won for 2010

The inaugural TigerTurf Cup held on the new TigerTurf WETT synthetic surface at East’s Hockey Club, Brisbane has been won for 2010 by Queensland Academy Sport (QAS).  

QAS remained undefeated by downing Labrador 5 -4 in extra time in Sunday’s entertaining encounter. The two sides traded goals throughout, with Labrador recovering from an early two goal deficit in the first quarter to draw level on three occasions.  

Man of the Match Shane Kenny sealed the win with a golden goal in the first period of extra time.  He scored a double for QAS, along with Jacob Whetton and Labrador’s Player of the Tournament Mark Harris also picked up a double to his tally to ten for the Tournament. 

QAS generously donated back the $2000 prise money and asked that it be divided equally between the other four competing Clubs. 

The Organisers would like to thank the sponsors of the event, the many volunteers, the officials and the competing teams who made the event such a success. 

The event will be held again in 2011.
