TigerTurf synthetic surfaces saves the day

The PBA Champion of Champions event played over the weekend of 5 & 6th January 2008 was originally scheduled to take place on natural grass greens.   However, due to the recent extreme hot weather conditions, which cause natural greens to burn, the decision was made to relocate the event to Sommerville Bowling Club.   Somerville’s TigerTurf Bowlsweave green, opened in Spring 2007, is unaffected by the weather and all players can experience playing on a true fast bowling surface.  The green is available 365 days a year, has a speed of 15½ - 16 and maintenance costs are greatly reduced.   The winner of the Championship, by a spectacular 25 – 0, Lee Schraner, an Australian representative, commented “I would rate the green equally as good as Montmorency” another TigerTurf green.
